We help you get published!

Academic careers and reputation are determined by the volume and quality of papers published in scholarly journals. Over three-quarters of peer-reviewed journals in the world are published in English, and we’re here to help level the playing field for non-native speakers.

Here’s how we do it

Contexto Académico is the premier agency that provides Spanish-to-English translation and Spanish and English editorial services to help academics working in the humanities, the social sciences, and live science get published in English-language indexed journals and other forums.

From translation to editing, from workshops on writing to individual coaching, we’re by your side through the entire editorial process.

Our services

Translation

Contexto Académico takes the utmost care with translating your academic documents such as abstracts, journal articles, and book chapters.

Formatting

We can format the footnotes and bibliography of your academic work to match the requirements of your publisher.

Copyediting

Copyediting goes beyond correcting grammar, spelling, syntax, and punctuation. It also involves improving sentence flow and structure, word choice, and continuity, all of which improve the comprehensibility of the text.

Journal Article Workshops

Our experts give workshops to scholars about how to have a better chance of getting published in English, which can be a challenging process.

Proofreading

Proofreading is generally the final step in the editing process and is usually done on galley proofs (typeset material).

Individual Coaching

We provide three types of individual coaching all of which are geared toward publishing in the United States.

About us

We’re based in Mexico City with a team of U.S. and Mexican nationals that includes founding partners Daniel McCosh and Rowena Galavitz, who, together, have 50 years of experience in translational, editorial, and academic services.

Why choose us

We have a carefully curated team of seasoned translators and editors who are specialists in their fields. Our editorial process includes a two-stage revision that ensures a final read by a native English wordsmith. As language experts with a deep understanding of Mexican culture, we generally focus on translating from Mexican Spanish to American English, but we accommodate the needs of all types of Spanish speaking clients.
