Resources: Guidelines for the Translation of Social Science Texts

For our post about resources for academic writing, editing, and translation, we present the excellent Guidelines for the Translation of Social Science Texts (copyright © 2006). Produced by the American Council of Learned Societies in multiple languages, including English and Spanish, this guide not only gives advice about the translation of social science texts it is also an excellent way to learn about the importance of hiring a specialized translator for your project.

The guidelines include topics about funding your translation, and they discuss themes such as what makes a good social science translator and how translators, authors, and editors should communicate. At Contexto Académico we strive to follow these general guidelines that we think will be helpful for you as you contemplate writing your academic text and having it translated or edited.
